Freedom of Information

From 1 st January 2005 you have the right of access to information held by public authorities.   This also includes hospitals as they receive public monies through NHS funding.

What is the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)?

The FOIA 2006 is a law that all public authorities must comply with The Act gives the right of access to any kind information held by a public authority. The Act is intended to promote a culture of openness and accountability, to help the public understand how public authorities carry out our business, how decisions are made and how public money is spent. There are exceptions under the Act, including personal information and for example, information concerning national security.

What the Act does not cover

It is not intended for requests for information about personal details which will still be dealt with under the Data Protection Act. Contact for access to personal information:
