Translating research into patient care

Accessibility

The Friends of Airedale hospital transport service helps patients and visitors who do not have access to a car and who are not able to use public transport. For details, please telephone 01535 294626 (between 9.30am and 12 noon, Monday to Friday) at least 24 hours in advance. This service is provided through the goodwill of volunteer drivers and donations to the Friends of Airedale are always gratefully accepted.

Free disabled car parking spaces are provided at each entrance to the hospital.

If you have severe mobility problems and cannot use public or private transport you may ask your GP to arrange patient transport for you. Many GP practices will also have information about volunteer transport schemes that will get you to the hospital.

If travelling to hospital may be difficult for you because of the cost, the length or complexity of the journey, or the lack of access to private or public transport; the Hospital Travel Cost Scheme may be able to help. For further advice please contact the benefits agency on freephone 0800 666555. To claim a refund to which you are eligible, please go to the hospital cashier's department in Trust Headquarters.

If you make a regular journey to the hospital then you might like to consider car sharing through the use of the West Yorkshire Car Share Scheme.
