Maternity services
Welcome to Airedale NHS Foundation Trust’s maternity services. Whether you are pregnant and thinking about where to have your baby or you are thinking about joining our team, we are delighted that you have chosen to visit our maternity services website.
The maternity unit at Airedale Hospital serves a large urban and rural population across West and North Yorkshire and East Lancashire.
As a team we believe in the normality of pregnancy and birth. For women, the benefits of a normal birth include improvements in morbidity rates and a quicker return home to their families. It is also about women being at the centre of the care we offer and our services being flexible and responsive to their needs and those of their partners and families.
For the majority of women, birth is a safe, normal and straightforward event. We want to ensure that women are supported by midwives they know and trust, so that women can be confident in their own ability to give birth and to nurture their babies. We want to decrease the number of medical interventions, unless they are necessary for the safety of mother and baby. By doing so, we will also ensure that women are able to access specialist care quickly when it is needed.
We are launching our Maternity Appeal with the Great 'Maternity' Bake off on Mother's Day, at 10.30am on 10th March 2013 with celebrity judge Tricia Stewart, the original 'Calendar Girl.' Click here for more information.
