19th July - Lymphoedema and oedema team celebrate the first birthday

A service that helps people manage their chronic swelling due to problems with their lymph drainage system is celebrating its first birthday this month. Airedale NHS Foundation Trust was successfully awarded the lymphoedema contract commissioned by NHS Bradford and Airedale. The small team of five have more than 350 patients across the district and hold weekly clinics at Westbourne Green Health Centre, Undercliffe Health Centre and Canalside Health Centre in Bingley.

14th July - Consultant helps those who are fighting for each day

Consultant anaesthetist Dr Tom Hollins pushed himself to the limit to help raise around 1,500 for Macmillan cancer research. He ran over the Lakelands' 10 highest peaks within just 16 hours and 43 minutes earlier this month. His challenge was 47 miles, 13000 feet of ascent (three quarters the size of Everest) and the run started at 4am on 2nd of July.

The news was revealed by Monitor – the independent body which regulates NHS Foundation Trusts – after the trust demonstrated excellent performance on the quality of services it provides and robust plans for the future.
