Budding stars from St Stephens primary school in Skipton decided to brighten up the day for poorly children at Airedale Hospital by performing a short musical version of Peter Pan.
As part of a special project on pirates, the 30 pupils, aged seven and eight, have formed a touring theatre company and will be performing at the Children’s Unit on Wednesday 13 July and also at Ashfield Care Home, Skipton and in school. They will also be having a collection at each performance and donating all proceeds to Airedale Hospital.
The author, JM Barrie gave the rights to Peter Pan to Great Ormand Street Hospital which continues to benefit from them and so the children have followed his example by supporting their local hospital.
Teacher Val Griffiths said: “The children have been really looking forward to performing. Hopefully it will help brighten up the day for the children who are in hospital.”
Sayma Mirza, senior sister at the Children’s Unit, Airedale Hospital said: “We are delighted that the pupils are coming to perform for us. When some of our patients come into hospital they have had a rather traumatic time and this should help ease some of their worries.
