The Team
We are a team of Speech and Language Therapists, Bilingual Support Workers and admin and clerical staff. We are employed by Airedale NHS Trust to provide a wide range of Speech and Language Therapy Services.
The Speech and Language Therapists all have a professional qualification in Speech and Language Therapy and are all registered with the Health Professions Council.
We are proud of our Bilingual Support Worker team who help us in our work with Urdu, Punjabi and Bangla speaking clients. Our admin and clerical team ensure the smooth running of the Speech and Language Therapy Service.

Adult Team
Our Adult team is based at Airedale General Hospital. The team works with adults with a wide range of dysphasia, dyspraxia, dysarthria, dysphonia, communication/ swallowing difficulties resulting from:
- Stroke
- Parkinson's Disease
- Motor Neurone Disease
- Dementia
- Head & Neck Cancer
- Head Injury
- Vocal cord changes
The Adult team of Speech and Language Therapists work in hospital, community settings and clients homes, nursing homes, residential homes and resource centres. They may work individually with the client/carer or in groups.
Paediatric Team
Our Paediatric team is based in various community locations eg. Keighley Health Centre, Bingley Health Centre, Ilkley Coronation Hospital, Settle Health Centre, Skipton General Hospital and the Child Development Centre at Airedale Hospital. The team works with children and young people from birth to school leavers with a wide range of needs including:
- Listening/attention difficulties
- Delayed/disordered development of language skills
- Delayed/disordered
speech/ sound development - Speech language impairment
- Autistic Spectrum Disorder [ASD]
- Learning difficulties
- Dysfluency [children & young adults]
- Hearing impairment
- Cleft lip and palate [children & young adults]
- Voice
- Eating/drinking difficulties
- Alternative & Augmentative Communication [AAC]
The Paediatric team may work individually with the child or in groups. They work closely with parents and families and offer regular parent programmes to help families support children with speech, language and communication needs.
