16th December 2014 – Young carol singers provide festive cheer for patients
Patients visiting Airedale Hospital were given a festive treat by children from two local primary schools who turned up to sing Christmas carols in the entrance.
Pupils from Glusburn and Eastburn Primary Schools provided a festive choral distraction in the outpatients department over two days.
The visits were organised by chaplain Jenny Smith and matron Sherie Herpe of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
Jenny Smith said: “The idea behind the carol-singing was to create a festive atmosphere around the hospital and to try and take the minds of our patients off any worries they may have – at least for a short time.”
Groups of carol singers will also be touring the hospital wards this evening (Tuesday 16 December) and the staff and volunteer carol service takes place on Thursday 18 December at 12.15pm in the hospital chapel.
