2 September 2016 – New Clinics for Women in Colne Health Centre
Airedale Hospital will be providing new consultant-led obstetrics and gynaecology clinics in Colne from next week.
The obstetric clinics will be supported by Airedale community midwives, who will also continue to provide midwifery clinics at Colne Children’s Centre. The new clinics, which will take place in Colne Health Centre, will give local mums-to-be a wider choice of clinics.
Obstetric clinics focus on women’s health during pregnancy and gynaecology clinics focus on women’s health generally, particularly connected to the reproductive system.
Community midwifery manager Clare Luby explains: “We’re very pleased that we can now offer clinics at Colne Health Centre, so local women can be seen closer to home. Mums-to-be and women in Colne and the surrounding area will have the opportunity to attend clinics either in the Children’s Centre, or in the Health Centre, which may be a better option if you live at that end of Colne.
“We’ll be offering midwife-only or consultant-led obstetric clinics and your midwife will advise you which clinic you should attend.”
Patient Services Manager Sayma Mirza adds: “Our gynae clinics will be consultant-led and women will be referred in to the clinics by their GP. We are looking forward to providing these clinics in Colne: offering our patients more choice to meet their health needs is at the heart of our hospital Right Care vision.”
Clinic times at Colne Health Centre will be 1.30pm – 4.30pm on alternate Tuesdays. Gynaecology clinics will start on Tuesday 6 September and obstetric clinics will begin on Tuesday 13 September.
