Newborn hearing screeners celebrate 11 years

Airedale Hospital’s new-born hearing screeners are celebrating 11 years of screening local babies. The team, which includes four screeners and an administrator, was established over a decade ago to offer all new-born babies a simple screen which can identify the possibility of a hearing loss and the need for further testing by audiology. New parents are offered screening which is safe, simple and minimally invasive. It involves placing a small soft tip into the baby’s ear canal and a soft clicking sound is transmitted down the ear canal to test reactions to sound.

22 July 2016 Oakworth Primary School raises over £2000 for Airedale Hospital

Pupils at Oakworth Primary School have raised £2437.89 for Airedale Hospital’s Chidlren’s Unit with a variety of fundraising events and projects throughout the school year. From penalty shoot- outs during the Euro 2016 tournament, to Play-a-Thons, bake sales, drawing competitions and book stalls, the children, their parents and teachers have worked hard to reach the impressive total.

A local organisation has donated £1,281 to the Friends of Airedale Hospital. Silsden Civic Society, which disbanded in April this year, has made the generous donation to the Friends as the final dispersal of its remaining funds.

A new quiet room for patients has been developed on the Endoscopy Unit at Airedale Hospital thanks to donations from patients, staff and a charity.
