26th August 2014 – Final vote for top photo during staff benefits day
Shiatsu massage and energising workshops were just a couple of the attractions for employees at a Staff Benefits Day held at Airedale Hospital.
Another highlight was the final stage of a photographic competition as staff could have their say by voting for the top winner of £100 prize.
An exhibition of 13 final entries from staff was put together for the day. The proud winner was Gareth Hughes, a senior finance manager, whose submission was an atmospheric photo of the Cow and Calf rocks in Ilkley. All entries will now be displayed in the hospital and turned into a hospital calendar 2015 to raise money for Airedale Hospital’s Emergency Department Appeal.
Other stalls with a theme of health and wellbeing were provided by Sheffield Hallam University, a life coach; Skipton Tennis Club; Halfords bicycles with a cycle to work scheme; Sovereign health and Simply Health.
There was also information about the day nursery on site and child care for staff; accommodation within the hospital grounds; care leasing from NHS Fleet Solutions and Derwent Business Care Lease scheme; advice from Counter Fraud Specialists and HB Retinue and a chance to meet staff governors.
Around 200 staff dropped into the Staff Benefits Day, between 11am and 2pm, which was one of three events held during the same week in August in a giant marquee on site. The other two events were a celebration for volunteers and a public open day.
Jodie Hearnshaw, HR communications coordinator, who organised the event, said: “The day was a great success and a chance for staff to find out more about the benefits available to them whilst working for Airedale. The prize draw for the staff photo exhibition created a lot of interest and was planned for the day in a bid to persuade more staff to take a break and join in.”
