26th June 2015 – Tennis tournament tribute and family fun day
Tennis fans and their families are invited to attend the annual charity tennis tournament at Victoria Mills next week (4 July).
David McDermott has organised the VMbledon event to raise money for the critical care, maternity and neo natal units at Airedale Hospital, following the tragic death of his daughter, Haylet McDermott aged just 27.
Victoria Mills, Saltaire, will be transformed into a family fun day including tennis matches, boules and chess, one legged races, sack races, live music and a barbeque.
John Logue, matron for critical care at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said “The money raised at the event will be a huge help to our critical care unit, we are looking to buy new state of the art equipment for critical care and refurbish a family room.”
Support for the event has come from residents of Victoria Mills as well as the new owners of the VM Lounge, Bar and Bistro, which is located within the grounds.
The event which takes place on Saturday 4 July from 12pm, is free to attend and everyone is welcome. Attendees are welcome to come dressed in an American theme.
