29th October 2013 – Find out why organ donation is so important
A Specialist nurse from Airedale Hospital will talk about organ donation at an event on site on Tuesday 12th November 2013.
The free talk, which will include information on the need for more people to join the organ donation register, what happens at donation and how this changes the lives of recipients will be given by a specialist nurse for organ donation, Rachel Wiseman. Our Governor, Alan Davies, will also talk and answer questions about his recent experience of being a kidney donor.
In the UK last year 2,912 people’s lives were transformed through the gift of a transplant, and this was thanks to the generosity of 1,088 donors. There were 1,798 lives dramatically changed through kidney transplantation and 741 lives saved through liver transplants.
The event will be held in the Lecture theatre, part of the Education Centre, at Airedale Hospital, Keighley, on Tuesday 12th November, between 10.30am and 11.45am.
Everyone is welcome to attend and places are free, but do need to be booked in advance, either by telephoning 01535 294540 (24 hours answerphone) or via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The talk is one of a series of events the Governors of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust are organising to encourage people living near the hospital to become more involved in its work.
