3rd October 2014 – Fundraising ball a success
A Great Gastby themed ball has helped to raise £8,000 towards Airedale Hospital’s Emergency Department Appeal.
The event, which was held at the Rendezvous Hotel, Skipton, in September, included a charity auction and grand prize draw and as attended by almost 200 people.
Jodie Hearnshaw, HR communications co-ordinator at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, who helped to organise the ball, said: “We were overwhelmed with peoples’ generosity and on behalf of the organising committee I would like to thank everyone who donated raffle prizes, their time, or helped the event in anyway.
“We had a lot of fun organising the event and were amazed at the effort people made to come in 1920’s and 1930’s style dress.
“Overall it was a fantastic night with a lot of money raised for a great cause. We have received great feedback and we are looking forward to organising next year’s event.”
Airedale Hospital’s Emergency Department Appeal was launched in May and aims to raise £100,000 to fund distraction walls and an interactive floor for the children’s assessment and treatment area and more resourced to help patients with dementia, such as sky windows light installations which help create a calm and relaxing atmosphere for these vulnerable patients.
The new £6.3 million emergency department, which is set to open its doors to the public before the end of the year, will
provide much improved facilities including separate adult and children’s waiting areas, a quiet room for friends and families to use during stressful events and better privacy and dignity for vulnerable older patients and their families and carers.
