4th October 2012 – Read all about it in Airedale Hospital’s newspaper
Hot off the press is a user-friendly version of this year’s annual report produced by Airedale Hospital to let patients, carers and local people know more about the achievements of its staff over the past 12 months.
The newspaper, entitled The Annual Record 2011/12, includes details of new services, equipment and refurbishments to improve patient care; awards that staff at the hospital have won; advice on how to stay healthy; special profiles of teams, governors and volunteers; how teams listen to and respond to concerns of patients and their families; ways in which patients can get more involved with their local hospital; some useful contacts to help people quickly get the care that they need; how the hospital performs against nationally agreed targets; and a summary of the trust’s financial position.
This is the second time that hospital managers decided to produce this style of annual report due to positive feedback from staff and members of the local community.
It will be sent out to libraries, GP surgeries, and other health and community venues and will be available at events the hospital takes part in throughout the year.
Colin Millar, chairman of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We received lots of positive comments about our newspaper version of last year’s annual report – and so we decided to do the same again this year.
“Our aim is to keep our patients and local people up-to-date about exciting developments that have happened over the past year or which are planned for the future.
“Hopefully this will encourage more people to become more involved with our work, help us to improve our services and be better informed to make the best choice about their care.”
