Hula hooping, zumba and bokwa are some of the more creative ways of keeping fit to try at Airedale Hospital’s Open day.

A wide range of demonstrations and taster sessions from Dru yoga to Thai Boxing will be on offer outside a giant marquee from fitness instructors from Eastburn Fitness centre.

There will be more than 60 stalls with so much to see and do including the opportunity to see a demonstration of our telemedicine and Gold Line services and to test out a new interactive floor planned for Airedale’s Emergency Department.

Staff will be on hand to show you how they get you ready for surgery, discuss organ donation and talk about our brand new endoscopy and maternity units and refurbished pathology labs.

For children, some of the attractions will be testing out wound make-up; visiting the children’s room; having a go at the 90ft cave run, visiting the giant lungs and saying hello to Keighley Cougars’ Freddy mascot.

You can meet the therapy pet and guide dogs, learn about the wonders of telemedicine and pick up some careers advice.

There will be free refreshments provided by Sodexo, the hospital’s catering company, and free parking available on site.

Vicky Lakin, fitness instructor from Eastburn Fitness Centre, said: “We are really looking forward to the event, it’s great fun for the whole family. We have a real mixture of activities for visitors to either watch or give it. We cater for everyone from four to 104 and all levels of fitness.”
