The maternity department at Airedale Hospital is inviting the public to join them for their first ever Maternity Open Day.
Taking place on Saturday 17 February in the education centre at Airedale Hospital, the Open Day will include a variety of information stalls, a raffle, tombola and face painting, as well as the opportunity to have a tour of the maternity facilities and a chat with some of the midwives.
Gemma Sayer, a midwife who has helped to organise the event, says, “We’d like to take this opportunity to celebrate the work that goes on in all of our maternity services. We’ve not put on an event like this before and we are really excited to welcome people in. Whether you’ve had a baby at Airedale in the past, are currently pregnant or just generally interested in the maternity services we offer, you are more than welcome to come along.”
Fiona McFadyen, labour ward manager, says, “A lot of hard work has gone into planning what will be a fantastic event. We’re really proud of working at Airedale and would like to show everyone what we do.
“There will be something for all the family with games and face painting for children, and lots of useful information for parents. The raffle has some fantastic prizes – some local companies have been very generous. All money we raise will go towards new equipment for maternity services.”
The event is free and will take place between 10am and 4pm. Visitors should make their way to the education centre, building 18. There will be free parking available on the day in the building 18 car park.
