The Chairman of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, Professor Michael Luger, has resigned from his post in order to take up a senior executive role in the education sector in London. Michael worked in education with roles in the United States and the UK before he joined Airedale Hospital in 2014.

Bridget Fletcher Chief Executive of the Trust said; “We are sorry that Michael is leaving us, he brought a fresh perspective to the Trust and helped us look at our challenges in different ways and seek new solutions”

Andrew Gold, currently deputy Chairman will move into the post of Interim Chairman when Michael Luger leaves the Trust. Andrew lives in Skipton and is well connected locally through his role as a volunteer at Craven College and membership of Skipton Rotary Club and he is also a non-executive director for the Ecology Building Society based in Silsden.

Andrew said; “I am delighted to be asked to move into the post of interim Chair at Airedale Trust. The hospital is a key part of our community providing much needed care for our population from the main hospital site, and through the community teams that work across our district. I am looking forward to providing leadership for the Board, as we seek to create new partnerships and alliances that will enable us to provide a sustainable future for the Trust.”

The Trust will make the necessary arrangements to recruit a substantive chair in due course.
