Charity’s donation to Airedale Hospital gives children a boost
A welfare charity has donated a cheque to Airedale Hospital’s Children’s Ward following a fundraising football tournament.
The football tournament took place over the summer, and involved teams getting together to play friendly matches as well as activities and a bouncy castle for children. It raised an incredible £761 for the Children’s Ward.
Shazad Ismail from the charity SKT Welfare presented the gift to the ward: “Earlier this year we presented a mobility scooter, as well as toys and gifts for Eid, to the hospital and are delighted to be helping the Children’s Ward again.
“We are carrying out a number of projects in Keighley; we have started running a weekly soup kitchen to provide warm meals to the community and we organise many sporting activities and volunteering challenges to get people from different backgrounds to work together.
“The work we do couldn’t be done without the help from our sponsors Hanover Carpets, Shans Supermarket and Mr Compensator.”
Shazad’s son, Muhammed Yahya, 3, often has to visit the Children’s Ward because he has a condition called spina bifida which confines him to a wheelchair. “The Children’s Unit here is very close to my heart”, says Shazad, “It’s great to be able to give something back, and this is not the end – there will be many more to come!”
