Double celebration for our ‘Future Focussed’ finance team

A member of the finance team at Airedale Hospital has received a national Value Maker award in recognition of her outstanding teamwork.  Amy Denning, who is a finance manager at the trust, was named Team Player of the year at the Future-Focussed Finance virtual ceremony on 24 September.  The Team Player Award is given to those who build strong relationships and collaborate  effectively with others across the organisation and system.

It is a double celebration for the team as the trust has also recently gained the Future Focussed Finance ‘Towards Excellence’ Level 1 accreditation, which is given to organisations that have the very best finance skills development culture and practices.

Amy was recognised by several colleagues at her organisation for going above and beyond in her role to support the team and to lead on Future Focussed Finance within the department. Despite starting her role at the trust just as the pandemic hit, Amy’s colleagues say she has done an amazing job in bringing the team together digitally, and in leading on the trust’s Level 1 submission for Accreditation. Her team say she has made outstanding efforts to ensure the wellbeing of staff are supported and has implemented several social and fun initiatives to keep morale high and the team connected.

Amy, who lives in Steeton, says: “I’m not very good at blowing my own trumpet; I was completely gobsmacked when I won, but very proud.”

Amy Whitaker, Interim Executive Director of Finance at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust says:

“I am so pleased that Amy has won this award, it is incredibly well deserved. Amy got a new role just as the Covid pandemic hit and the team all had to start working from home. Despite this she has worked tirelessly, not only to do her own job to an incredible standard but to ensure that the whole of the finance team are well supported, are kept in touch with, and that they are looking after their wellbeing. She is an absolute credit to the department.”
