Mortgage company donate to hospital
Two employees from a local mortgage servicing company have raised money for the Haematology and Oncology Day Unit (HODU) at Airedale Hospital.
Lauren John and Katie Wilson were spurred into action after the sad loss of their colleague following a long battle with cancer. In her memory they held a fundraising day at Computershare’s Crossflatts office, for Airedale’s HODU where she was treated.
A raffle was held with prizes donated by other local businesses and a total of £2353.70 was raised.
Lauren said; “Our colleague spent a lot of time on HODU and spoke very highly of the unit and the staff, so we thought it was important to give something back. Many local businesses were really supportive of the cause and donated generously which helped to fundraise more than we ever expected.”
Katie said; “We know she would be really proud of everyone’s efforts and would be pleased to see the money help others.”
Gina Thompson, HODU manager, said; “This money will enable us to buy furniture and a new treatment chair to give us more space to treat patients. We are so grateful for kind donations we receive as they make a real difference to the patients we look after.”
