Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has today announced the appointment of Brendan Brown as chief executive. He is currently the chief nurse and deputy chief executive of Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.
The appointment was made by the Trust Board of Directors and ratified by the Foundation Trust Council of Governors.
Andrew Gold, chair of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: “There was a strong field of candidates from which the Board is delighted to appoint Brendan.
“Our new chief executive will also be the partnership lead for the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven Health and Care Partnership. Brendan brings a wealth of experience of leadership within a hospital trust, and working with partners across a wider health and care system.
“We look forward to welcoming Brendan to the Trust and I am confident that he will continue to work towards our aim of providing excellent healthcare to local people.”
Brendan said: “I am delighted to be joining the Trust which has an excellent reputation, a strong sense of teamwork, and a respected and committed leadership team. I am looking forward to working alongside the teams to deliver the best possible health services for the people of Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven, and in leading the Health and Care Partnership.
“The NHS faces challenging times but I am confident that the Trust can work with patients and partners to continue to improve the quality of services for our community.”
Brendan’s appointment follows Trust chief executive Bridget Fletcher’s announcement to retire in May after her long and successful career in the NHS.
