NAS logoThe National Autistic Society offers a lot of really useful advice and resources to help people with autism live better lives.

One of their latest ideas is ‘My hospital passport’, designed for people who might need hospital treatment.

 If you have autism, it will help you to communicate your needs to doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

You can download the passport from this page.

There is help available here  to explain how to complete and use the passport.

If you are taken into hopsital for treatment overnight, or for a long stay, you should:

  • give the passport to the doctor or nurse in charge of your care;
  • and ask them to keep it with your patient notes at the end of your bed.
