The childcare support service is here to help and advise you from when you are pregnant or planning to adopt, through to your child being 16, or 18 if they have a disability. The childcare support service is available to all NHS employees throughout Bradford and Airedale District. You can find out more on their website (www.childcarebenefits.bdct.nhs.uk) or by calling 01274 228321.
As well as our nursery service we also provide other, free of charge, services to help you through pregnancy and raising your child:
Baby massage is offered in small groups and is suitable for parents with babies aged between one and six months. We run around three courses a year from Cowling Village Hall.
These courses are available for all parents employed by the NHS throughout Bradford and Airedale and are free of charge. They are an ideal opportunity to make new friends or catch up with colleagues. All we do ask is that you pre-book your place and commit to complete the course.
Baby massage is a four week course which runs one morning per week.
In addition to massage, speakers attend some of the sessions giving information and advice on the following:
A representative from HR to discuss flexible working
Our childcare provision manager, discussing childcare options
A health visitor discussing weaning
A first aid trainer advising on paediatric first aid in the home, particularly around choking
Our maternity workshops are mandatory for everyone working for the Trust who is expecting a baby, and the earlier into your pregnancy you can attend the better.
All workshops are held monthly at Airedale Hospital in the education centre. They run between 12pm and 2pm. Drinks are provided and we ask that you pre-book your place as space is limited and also to make sure we have the right amount of information packs on the day.
The workshop is extensive and covers a wide range of speakers and topics including:
A representative from HR speaking about maternity policies and maternity pay
Our childcare provision manager, speaking about childcare options and financial savings
An infant feeding advisor speaking about feeding babies, including the benefits of breast feeding
Occasionally we have a speaker from Bradford children’s libraries speaking about the importance of books to babies
