Designing the hospital

We are at an exciting point in our journey to a new hospital where we are designing our new hospital. Our specialist team of architect and engineering companies are developing the design for the new hospital and have been seeking your views to help shape the plans.

We are part of the national New Hospital Programme and, in line with all the hospitals being built as part of this programme, we have to use a design template called Hospital 2.0​. Hospital 2.0 is a standardised blueprint, developed in consultation with clinicians, healthcare staff and patients across the country. It incorporates the latest innovations and technology and aims to decrease building time and costs.​

It also includes:

• 100% single en-suite rooms for patients
• Design templates for theatres, departments and other wards such as intensive care and critical care
• Digital transformation to benefit patients and staff
• A strong focus on staff health and wellbeing and the facilities to support this
