Securing the Future: Stage two
Preparing the site
Before we start building the new hospital, we have some preparation work to do to get the site ready.
This includes:
- Building a new secondary access road from Skipton Road to improve traffic flow and access to the hospital site.
- Building a multi-storey car park to improve parking facilities for patients, visitors and staff and ensure there is space for patients to park while the new hospital is being built.
- Building a new energy centre (substation) to serve the new hospital.
- Moving the overhead powerlines to make way for the new multi-storey car park (this work has now finished).
- Clearance of buildings to make way for the new hospital.
- Developing plans to move the Trust nursery to a new location in the hospital grounds.
The map below shows where these works will be taking place.

Local people, patients and staff have previously shared their views on our plans to prepare the site for the new hospital through a survey, roadshow and exhibition. All the feedback we received was independently analysed and put into a report which is available on the website here and has been used to inform our plans. The Trust has submitted a planning application to Bradford Council for a new multi-storey car park and access road to the hospital from Skipton Road.Planning applications to relocate the Trust’s nursery and for a new electricity substation will be submitted at a later date.
