We’re delighted to announce that we have been accepted on the Government’s New Hospital Programme.  Read the press release here.

December 2022

Fran Hewitt, Senior Programme Manager for Airedale NHS FT’s Securing the Future programme, said: “Due to the age and type of construction, structural engineers have advised that Airedale General Hospital should be replaced by 2030.

“In the meantime, we are taking every step possible to maintain safety within the building.

“This includes putting in structural supports and installing steel beams where necessary.  We have embarked on a rolling decant programme to undertake extensive structural work in all of our wards and some other parts of the hospital.

“Our Intensive Care Unit and respiratory wards moved earlier this year into our new, state-of-the-art modular building and our Endoscopy service is operating from a bespoke temporary Vanguard unit as part of this programme.  We began work on the wards in early October and are making good progress.

“Airedale has submitted a bid to be included on the New Hospital Programme. Whilst no clear timeline has been provided, the indications are that the final decision will be announced in early 2023.”
