AGH Solutions who run the estates, facilities and procurement services at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust have successfully tendered and been awarded the contract for providing specialist Decontamination Services to Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (BDCFT), after a competitive tender process.

Graham Beck, Assistant Director of Commercial Services at AGH Solutions says: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded the contract.  We have provided the service to BDCFT for the past 5 years and we are all very excited to be continuing with the service and working together with our Bradford colleagues.  It’s great news for AGH Solutions and our Decontamination Services team and we look forward to continuing to provide BDCFT with an excellent service provision.”

The decontamination services team who have recently purchased new equipment at a cost of £86k, provide decontamination (sterilisation) services using automated washer disinfectors, a chemical washer disinfector and automated steam sterilisers.

The department operates a computerised traceability
system for all items processed and is a fully compliant sterilisation
service for other healthcare providers and operates to the ISO 13485:2016 standard and Medical
Devices Directive 93/42/EEC.

Medical engineering team gets Quality Accreditation System

The Medical Engineering team at AGH Solutions have also achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification for their quality management system, for the commissioning, maintenance and repair of medical and non-medical devices in the hospital.  The certificate was awarded after a 2 day accreditation process by BSI firstly in November 2018 and then again in January this year and the certification is valid for 3 years with annual inspections. This demonstrates that the team are committed to safety and best practice.

Andrew Bramham Medical Engineering Manager at AGH Solutions explains: “We have procedures and Standard Operating Procedures for every task that we perform to ensure quality and consistency, we operate a stock control system and all parts fitted are recorded against the asset in our asset management system, all test equipment is calibrated annually and is traceable to National Standards.

We are delighted to have achieved certification, it has been a huge project that has taken us over a year to achieve and it is a credit to the hard work of my team. It gives re-assurance to the Trust that the medical devices are maintained to a quality standard and will be of real benefit for future CQC inspections. We are now looking to expand our external contracts and the ISO 9001 certification will give customers external assurance about our service.”
