Volunteers at Airedale hospital have raised money as part of their golden wedding anniversary celebrations.

Bob and Carole Smithies, who have been volunteers at Airedale hospital for nearly 20 years, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in November 2017 with a party for friends and family. They requested for their guests not to bring gifts, but instead asked that they make donations for charities of Mr and Mrs Smithies’ choice.

A total sum of £300 was raised which is being split evenly between the Friends of Airedale charity and the Bel Young Trust.

Eileen Proud, president of the Friends of Airedale charity, said, “I’d like to thank Bob and Carole for this lovely gesture. Their donation is much appreciated and will make a lot of difference to patients, staff and visitors to the hospital. I’d also like to offer them my congratulations on their golden wedding anniversary!”
