Members of the public are being encouraged to share their views as part of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help shape the design of the new Airedale Hospital.
Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has launched a survey to get views on various aspects of the new hospital’s design including communal spaces, location finding, the use of technology, accessibility and the types of facilities that should be available.
This will gather information to help the Trust design a new hospital that’s both state-of-the-art and user-friendly and welcoming for everyone.
‘Foluke Ajayi, Chief Executive of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust said: “We are committed to building a hospital that serves the needs of everyone in our community, and this latest survey builds on the raft of valuable insight we’ve gathered so far.
“As part of the government’s New Hospital Programme, we will be using a national template called Hospital 2.0, which incorporates the latest innovations and technology. Combining this with the views of our patients, staff and the public will help make the most of this once-in-a lifetime opportunity and create a hospital we can all be proud of.
“We are also planning for delivering more healthcare to our patients in community settings in line with the NHS 10 Year Health Plan. We’re excited about the future for Airedale and really encourage people to join the conversation.”
Hospital 2.0 is a standardised design for future hospitals, which aims to decrease building time and costs. It has been developed with input from healthcare professionals, patients and the public and focuses on using best practice to enhance patient care. It includes standard templates for clinical areas such as wards, theatres and treatment rooms and single en-suite rooms for all patients to enhance patient experience and improve infection control.
The survey is the first stage of an extensive programme of public engagement planned for the next few months to get people’s views and priorities for how the new hospital should look and feel.
