Our Location

Situated in a stunning rural location, we are a stone’s throw from thriving city centres with great transport links, offering the best of both worlds.

We’re rural, and we’re urban. Our services are provided from our main hospital site, Airedale Hospital, and at other locations across the community – such as the recently refurbished Castleberg Hospital near Settle, Coronation Hospital in Ilkley and Skipton Hospital.

We provide care for local people who live in an area extending from the fringes of north Bradford to parts of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The centres of population are the towns of Keighley, Ilkley and Bingley in West Yorkshire, Skipton, Settle and Grassington in North Yorkshire; and Barnoldswick, Earby and Colne in East Lancashire.  It is situated in some of the finest scenery in England extending from the Pennines in the south to the upland hills and valleys of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the north.

Airedale Hospital is situated in the countryside between Skipton and Keighley. It is on great rail and road links to major cities and the Lake District. The main road links are with the M1 at Leeds (25 miles), the M62 at Bradford (15 miles) and the M6 at Preston (25 miles).  In addition to Bradford and Leeds there are good shopping centres and cultural facilities at Ilkley (7 miles), Skipton (5 miles) and Harrogate (20 miles).

Residence within ten miles of the hospital affords a wide choice of pleasant surroundings at Bingley, Haworth, Ilkley and Skipton as well as many small country villages. There are many excellent state education facilities nearby, including grammar schools in Skipton and Halifax as well as independent schools at Giggleswick, Bradford, Ilkley and Leeds.

Our Values

Our 2500 staff and 350 committed volunteers all work to our values and behaviours. Our values are about; compassion, improving lives, a commitment to quality of care and working together for patients. We want to make these part of our DNA.

We understand that it’s down to the hard work, effort and dedication of our staff that makes a difference for our patients. Our people really do make our Airedale experience – we take pride in fostering a friendly, effective and caring work environment.

Improving Lives

“It is a wonderful feeling knowing that something I thought of is having an impact on patient care, and that it has been seen by my profession as worthy of recognition. It’s my wish that I see what I do happening in every hospital in the country.”

What’s it like to work here?

It’s a warm and welcoming environment and our people are at the heart of everything that we do.

We’re always looking for enterprising and innovative approaches to the way that we provide our services. There’s a lot of energy in our workforce and creativity and development allow us to keep moving forward as a Trust.

We pride ourselves on being a great place to work and we really are here to welcome new people from the moment they step through the door. “The breadth of what we do continues to grow. It’s nice doing it here, we have a population right across the area from Bradford to Ilkley and up into the farming communities of the Yorkshire Dales. There’s a real mix of challenges, and that makes my job very enjoyable here at Airedale”
