Meet our Pride of Airedale winners – Trainee of the Year

Louise Moorhouse, Therapy Apprentice Administrator

Throughout her Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, Louise has demonstrated consistent dedication, growth and a clear passion for learning and development.

Louise’s apprenticeship journey saw her rotate across various areas within Therapy Services to gain a broad and well-rounded understanding of the department. As a result, Louise has had to adapt quickly, build strong relationships across different teams and learn multiple processes – all of which she has done with enthusiasm and professionalism.

Louise led on the completion of Therapies’ patient records – a task she took full ownership of, despite initially feeling out of her comfort zone. She completed the work ahead of schedule, communicated it effectively and took the time to thank and motivate those who supported her along the way.

Louise has made a significant impact during her apprenticeship and has truly earned her place in the team.

The judges felt that Louise had consistently demonstrated a commitment to personal development and has all the qualities to succeed with the next step in her career.

Katie Schofield, Newborn Hearing Screener

From her first day, Katie has shown enthusiasm and dedication to learning.

She is committed to becoming the best screener she can, approaches her work with energy and curiosity and embraces the journey to becoming a fully qualified Hearing Screener.

Katie has a zest for life and an energy that she instils in all she does. She always gives 100% and is never afraid to ask questions or get something wrong, opting instead to seize any opportunity for learning and improvement.

Her chatty and friendly nature helps to put new mums at ease and is always willing to go above and beyond her role.

Katie has recently completed her Health Screening Diploma – a full six months earlier than expected.

Diana Nitu, Trainee Nurse Specialist Colposcopist

Receiving two nominations in this category, Diana has shown excellent growth in her learning, been proactive in her development and grasped the concepts of colposcopy rapidly, both theoretically and practically. She is never afraid to question or ask for help to aid her learning.

Never missing a clinic, Diana will often come in early of her own accord when she knows the clinic will have a busy day. 

Diana instantly fit in with the rest of the Clinic 6 nursing team, consultants, colposcopy administrators, service manager and MDT team.

She is gentle with patients and her excellent communication skills reassures them and helps them to understand their condition. She also phones up all the patients who have not turned up to clinic to provide reassurance and information so that they attend next time.

Diana has worked hard to develop the service by updating the consent form and auditing the colposocpy MDT service to see where improvements can be made. On top of this, she continues to self-learn her theory in preparation of exams and is able to multi-task effortlessly.
