Dietetics
Our dietitians assess, diagnose, and treat dietary and nutritional problems. The aim is to promote good health and prevent disease in individuals and communities.
We have dietitians working in the following areas:
- children’s services (inpatients, outpatients, and community)
- adult inpatient areas including ICU, surgery, gastroenterology, medicine and stroke
- diabetes services including services in hospital and GP practices
- community nutrition support
- tube feeding
- patient education groups including cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation & diabetes
As a dietitian at Airedale, roles are varied with opportunities across teams and settings to allow dietitian’s to gain a broad range of skills and knowledge of the profession. We have good links with dietetic services across the region to support CPD and progression opportunities.
The dietetics service works closely with lots of other hospital functions to support nutrition and hydration of patients and staff, including working with the AGH Solutions Catering Service to ensure that patients are provided with nutritious and high quality meals.
Additionally, we input in to the Trust Nutrition and Hydration Steering Group, as well as a range of sub groups. The service provides training for nursing and medical staff on different areas of nutrition.
