Previous experience

Eileen Jessop is a board-level Chief Digital and Information Officer with over 25 years’ experience leading large-scale digital transformation across Defence, government and the NHS. She is widely recognised for delivering complex, mission-critical programmes that modernise healthcare, strengthen cyber resilience, and unlock the power of data at national scale.

As Chief Digital and Information Officer for Defence Medical Services within the Ministry of Defence, Eileen leads the global medical digital, data strategy supporting healthcare delivery to UK Armed Forces personnel. She is the Senior Responsible Owner for a Government Major Projects Portfolio (GMPP) programme, driving a £500m transformation to deliver integrated, deployable digital health capabilities across operational, maritime and fixed environments worldwide.

Eileen has a strong track record of building and leading high-performing digital functions in complex environments. She established the Defence Medical Services Digital and Data capability from inception, published its first enterprise-wide digital strategy, and is leading the transformation of legacy services, including the modernisation of the Defence Medical Archive, delivering improved access, operational effectiveness and multi-million-pound savings.

Prior to Defence, Eileen was Chief Information Officer at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, where she led the organisation to a largely paperless environment, delivered national digital services for Proton Beam Therapy, and established advanced data and research capabilities in partnership with industry and academia. Her earlier career includes senior leadership roles at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the Department for Work and Pensions, where she was head of enterprise cloud transformation supporting services used by over 20 million citizens.

Eileen is an accredited reviewer for the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA) and a graduate of the Major Projects Leadership Academy at Oxford Saïd Business School. She holds Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and is recognised for her ability to lead in high-pressure, high risk environments where digital capability is critical to operational success.
