Professional Background

Mr McCormack studied medicine at Queen’s University, Belfast between 2004 and 2009. He subsequently completed his foundation training in Northern Ireland. Following this, he gained further experience during a one-year spell living and working in Brisbane, Australia. He completed core surgical posts in both Northern Ireland and North Yorkshire, including Airedale hospital, before appointment to Higher Orthopaedic Training in The North Yorkshire training rotation in 2015. He achieved his certificate of completion of training in 2021. After joining the specialist register, Mr McCormack then worked in the first of two fellowship posts within the prestigious Leeds Upper Limb Unit. Subsequently, he completed a further fellowship with the Derby Shoulder Unit. Both fellowships granted Mr McCormack a broad depth of knowledge and expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery, including joint replacements and specialist arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery.

Mr McCormack has been involved in research throughout his career and has published articles in international journals, written chapters for academic publications and presented at various scientific conferences.

Personal Interests:
Mr McCormack enjoys participating and supporting all forms of sports and has played both football and Gaelic football from a young age. He particularly follows the fortunes of Arsenal F.C, Ireland Rugby and Tyrone GAA.
