Job role/areas of responsibility
  • Provides strategic and professional leadership for the pharmacy department and medicines across the Trust.
  • Ensuring the safe, effective and economical use of medicines, maximising the beneficial impact of medicines on patients whilst minimising the risk of adverse reactions. This encompasses prescribing, administration, monitoring, supply to clinical areas, procurement and storage of medicines, making sure that this is in line with legislation, regulations and national and professional standards.
  • Ensures effective pharmacy services across the Trust, which incorporates the dispensary, distribution, aseptics, Medicines Information, homecare, procurement, clinical pharmacy team, clinical trials, etc.
  • Maintain and strengthen the governance of medicines and the pharmacy service.
  • General Pharmaceutical Council Superintendent Pharmacist.
  • Trust Controlled Drug Accountable Officer.
  • MHRA Wholesale Dealers Licence holder for Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Lead for the Airedale vaccine service and the Bradford District and Craven Covid Medicines Delivery Unit.
  • Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Senior Responsible Officer for Scan for Safety.

Professional background

I have been in post as Chief Pharmacist at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust since January 2020.

Prior to this, I have worked as a Pharmacist in a range of roles including managing staff and services in several hospitals in London including Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

As an Independent Pharmacist Prescriber, I specialised in respiratory medicine, working on multi-disciplinary ward rounds including respiratory and Post-take Ward Rounds.

I am passionate about providing safe, patient-centred, high quality care, particularly relating to medicines and the services that the pharmacy department provides.
