How to prepare and take Klean

To ensure a thorough examination of your colon it must be emptied of waste material as your Endoscopist needs clear views of the lining of your digestive tract to enable detection of subtle abnormalities.

The Klean-Prep bowel preparation is a strong laxative which will empty your bowel of waste material. It is important that you follow these instructions correctly. If you are not properly prepared the procedure may not be successful and may even result in the cancellation of the procedure.

Before your procedure

In order to examine the whole of the bowel it must be clear of all waste materials. This is achieved by using a combination of changing what you eat and taking laxative medicines. Please follow the instructions printed below.

Please stop taking iron tablets seven days before your procedure. Two days before your procedure please stop taking any medicines which may constipate you for example: Codeine, Co-phenotrope (Lomotil), Morphine or Loperamide (Imodium).

Diabetic patients, please take your diabetic medication as instructed by the pre-assessment nurse. All other medication should be continued as normal unless otherwise instructed by the pre-assessment nurse.
