FLOK Health – Digital Support for Back Pain and Leg Symptoms

Overview

FLOK Health is a digital physiotherapy service designed to support people with back pain and back‑related leg symptoms (such as sciatica). It provides quick access to assessment, personalised advice, and guided exercises through your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

FLOK is free for NHS patients and offers an alternative to waiting for a traditional physiotherapy appointment.

FLOK may be suitable if you have:

  • New or ongoing back pain
  • Back pain with leg symptoms
  • Stiffness, reduced movement, or muscle tightness
  • Symptoms that are not urgent or severe

If FLOK is not suitable, or if your symptoms require a different type of care, you will be directed back to Airedale MSK services or your GP.

  • Faster access to physiotherapy support
  • Flexible — complete exercises at home, at your own pace
  • Evidence‑based advice
  • Regular monitoring to keep you safe
  • Clear pathways back into NHS care if needed

  1. Patients on the Airedale MSK Waiting List

You will receive a text message from Airedale NHS Foundation Trust with a link to join FLOK. You can choose to:

  • Start FLOK now, or
  • Remain on the waiting list for a face‑to‑face or telephone appointment with a clinician working for Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
  1. Self‑Referral

You can self‑refer using the FLOK link below:

Routes Out of FLOK

Depending on your progress, you may:

Be discharged

A letter will be sent to your GP at the end of your episode of care.

Return to Airedale MSK

This may happen if:

  • You prefer not to use digital services
  • FLOK identifies that you need alternative care
  • Your symptoms do not improve as expected

Patients returning to Airedale MSK are included in a weekly report so the team can arrange next steps.

If you self‑referred

You may be advised to contact your GP for further support.

Is FLOK safe?

Yes. FLOK is clinically designed and monitored by qualified physiotherapists.

Do I need special equipment?

No. You only need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet access.

Can I still see a physiotherapist in person?

Yes. If FLOK is not suitable or your symptoms do not improve, you will be directed back to Airedale MSK services.

Does FLOK replace my GP?

No. FLOK supports your recovery but does not replace medical advice from your GP.
