The trauma and orthopaedic department offer planned (elective) and trauma services for musculoskeletal conditions. The trauma and orthopaedic team consists of surgeons, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, plaster technicians, nurses and non-clinical support staff. The team work together to ensure the very best care is available for musculoskeletal problems.

Elective inpatients (for example those having Hip or Knee replacements) receive their care at Airedale General Hospital. Location B4

Surgical Day Unit, Ward 20

Trauma or elective (planned) patients, who do not require an overnight stay in hospital, receive their care in the Day Unit at Airedale General Hospital. Location B16

Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants may be involved in your care following a fracture or elective operation.

Fracture Clinic

Outpatient fracture clinics are held at Airedale General Hospital. They run daily, and an appointment is required. Apointments are usually provided by the Accident & Emergency Department. Location A1, Clinic 12

Acute Shoulder Soft Tissue Injury Clinic

The Acute Shoulder Clinic is for patients who have sustained a shoulder or elbow soft tissue injury. Appointments are usually provided by Accident and Emergency staff. This clinic runs from the Physiotherapy Department at Airedale General Hospital. Location A9

Acute Knee Clinic

The Acute Knee Clinic is for patients who have sustained a knee soft tissue injury. Appointments are usually provided by Accident and Emergency staff. This clinic runs from the Physiotherapy Department at Airedale General Hospital and Skipton General Hospital.

Plaster Room

The plaster room is at Airedale General Hospital, and is where casts and splits are applied, adjusted and removed. Location A6

Outpatient Physiotherapy Services

The Physiotherapy Department provides Physiotherapy Services for Trauma and Orthopaedic patients. Appointments are available at Airedale General Hospital, The Oaks Resource Centre in Keighley, Skipton General Hospital, Ilkley Coronation Hospital, Canalside Health Centre in Bingley and Settle Health Centre.
